I am a psychologist and psychotherapist in the Solution Focused Brief Therapy approach. I graduated in clinical (practical) psychology at the SWPS University in Sopot – it was my choice of heart and the opportunity to develop my passion. Courses on Counteracting Violence, Addiction and Needs-Based Communication (NVC) would be particularly important to me.
I am a lawyer by my first education. Legal studies taught me the importance of words, critical thinking and a meta-level perspective on the coexistence of science, philosophy, ethics and areas of understanding, e.g. organization. Volunteering at a juvenile detention center in Gdańsk was a great experience of the importance of authenticity, sincerity of intentions in contact with other people and incredible satisfaction from noticing a glimmer of hope in the eyes of my interlocutor. At the Crisis Intervention Center in Gdańsk, I learned how to help in a situation of severe stress, as it is crucial to be mindful, listen to and care for emotions. Working in corporations and law firms gave me experience of performing tasks under the pressure of deadlines and under the stress of not empathic communication.
I am glad when I hear from my clients that the change of perspective helped them a lot and that the conversation with me brought relief and increased motivation. A relationship based on authenticity, equality and empathy is important to me. I believe that we already have everything we need inside, sometimes we just lack access to it, because our minds are an incredibly complex and beautiful secret, still being discovered, which thrives best in safe contact with other people.
